Obama Announces Amnesty, Is Photoshopped as King and Emperor

Tonight, President Obama addressed the nation and formally announced plans to take executive action on the hot-button issue of amnesty. In a bold move which many are calling an unconstitutional assertion of Presidential authority, Obama proposed making sweeping changes to federal immigration policy, including the following:

  • Cracking down on illegal immigration at the border
  • Deporting felons, but not families
  • Establishing criminal background checks and taxes for undocumented immigrants

At issue is whether or not the President has the authority to take any action at all in these areas. According to the Constitution, the President’s job is to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” Obama’s proposition represents a significant departure from how legislation in this country is enacted and enforced. However, the President maintains that such action is well within established legal precedence.

One major stumbling block for Obama is that he held the exact opposite position on precedence just one year ago. During a February 2013 Google Hangout, the President made the following statement on the topic of immigration:

The problem is, is that I’m the President of the United States, I’m not the emperor of the United States. My job is to execute laws that are passed.

Additionally, President Obama has stated on numerous occasions that he is not “a king” and that he is not able to act unilaterally on measures like granting amnesty.

As the President outlined his immigration proposal this evening, conservatives on Twitter analyzed Obama’s plan and observed that it certainly seemed very kingly and emperor-like, if not a tad dictatorial. Throughout the night, and also leading up to it, patriots tweeted out humorous Photoshopped images depicting President Obama as a king, an emperor, a dictator, and more.

The following are some of the best Photoshops of the bunch which have been assembled for your viewing pleasure. Hope you enjoy!
