Senator Rand Paul headlined the “Lincoln Day Dinner” GOP fundraiser in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 10th, 2013. During his speech, the Kentucky congressman began to riff on a topic near and dear to his heart: Obamacare. Specifically, he poked fun at the ridiculous number of diagnostic codes identified under the Byzantine healthcare law. Under the Affordable Care Act, the number of these diagnostic codes, which are used to help categorize the wide range of possible patient ailments, is set to rise sharply from 18,000 to 140,000.
Now, some may say that having 140,000 diagnostic codes is overkill. I say, you’ve never had to differentiate between the 9 types of injuries that can be sustained from a macaw.
Video of Rand Paul’s routine is available here:
Some notable codes not mentioned by the Kentucky Senator are:
Animal Bite – Millipede
Accidental Contact – Flying Horses
Accidental Contact – Goat Strike
Accidental Contact – Orca Feces
Crushed by Alligator
